Our Story
S.P.A.C.E evolved from observing the young people already attending GLH Equestrian. It became clear that, for some, learning in an equestrian and outdoor environment offered a more positive and engaging experience than a traditional educational setting. Following requests from parents, our wider family team, many of whom are experienced teachers, came together to develop a unique provision centred around each young person’s individual needs, strengths and interests.
We are fortunate to have highly experienced primary and secondary teachers within our team, alongside talented equestrian coaches and international riders who bring a wealth of expertise to our equestrian programme. Combined with our extensive facilities, horses and surrounding countryside, this has enabled us to create a supportive environment where young people can learn, develop and thrive.
We are passionate about providing an alternative approach that gives young people the opportunity to build confidence, discover their strengths and improve their future opportunities.
Our starting point is the horses and our tranquil outdoor environment, which provide a nurturing and enriching setting for learning. Through caring for and working with the horses, young people develop a sense of responsibility, purpose and achievement, while building the confidence, resilience and skills needed to engage positively in education.
Each young person has personalised, measurable targets linked to their social and emotional development, alongside academic targets where appropriate. We work closely with schools and families to support progress and ensure that learning is meaningful and purposeful. Our bespoke programmes are tailored to the individual and are suitable for both primary, secondary and post-16 pupils.
